Lisa Slawitz lives and works in Vienna. She studied oil painting at Joshibi University of Art and Design Japan, and received her diploma with distinction at the University of Applied Arts Vienna with Professor Judith Eisler in the department of painting and animation. Drawing intuitively from visual memory, Slawitz portrays different psychological states of an evolving self in current society. Feelings of doubt, failure, pressure, and female desire and longing are present in her work. Hereby the image becomes an object of knowing that emanates another, more visceral truth. She plays with balancing ugliness and beauty to find a sense of comedy, while exploring the questions of painting in composition, form and colors. Her works have been exhibited internationally in group and solo shows, including Hashimoto Art Lab (Japan), Mauve (Austria), New Jörg (Austria), White Dwarf Projects (Austria), KAMEN (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Lisa Slawitz’ work is currently on display at SHAG in her solo exhibition, D, by appointment only through the month of January 2023.
