Stone House Art Gallery is pleased to announce its first international exhibition, featuring new works from Vienna based artist Lisa Slawitz in her solo project, D. Slawitz presents a moody glimpse into the mind with a collection of intimately sized oil paintings, accompanied by a wall tapestry and immersive floor painting. The psychological state of the room is enhanced by cool blue lighting and softly draped purple fabric covering the ceiling. In the words of the artist,

“The feeling of doubt is one to be ridden, or be ridden by. It hides in questions, sneaks out to conjure passiveness, makes you desert yourself and flounder. It is the body of an animal, riding uncontrollably through your mind, hyperactive, cementing your own. In fleeing pose, freeze stuck, its body is primitive and free - or is this actually you, your own? You become flat, fill up the floor, you are to be stepped on, watching what concocts above. How can you commit to this, 'please', you whine, 'don't make me sign here.'”

This is Lisa Slawitz’ first time exhibiting her work in the United States. Her work has previously been featured in her home country of Austria, Japan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. D will be on view by appointment only thru January 2023. To schedule a viewing appointment, please DM or email us.
